I’ve been waiting all week—I ran out of vegetables days ago. My cloth sacks are waiting patiently in my bicycle basket. All I have to do now is wait—wait while the tents go up, while the farmers unload their freshest produce—crisp apples and juicy oranges beset by abundant floral bouquets. Ah, the farmer’s market. It’s the life line of our town and definitely the best place to people watch. But if you can’t wait for that faithful Wednesday (or Saturday or Sunday), stop by 608 Frederick St. where various artists have conjured the market, sexy fruit and all. Make sure to catch Anna Oneglia’s oils—the people are warm, with fuschia cheeks and purple hair, and the apples are painted gold, or Michele Hausman’s series documenting the various market blooms; a particularly charming piece is her oil on canvas “Dutch Iris Blues,” where gorgeous violet flowers sit in a steel bucket.
