Anyone who has suffered from the three fires in Santa Cruz County this year can apply for assistance from United Way of Santa Cruz County until July 11. Funds will be meted out beginning July 15. Call 479-5466.

I regret I was unaware of any assistance United Way would provide to my husband and myself. Our home/barn/fencing/some animals were completely destroyed (including the foundation) by the Trabing Rd/Larkin Valley fire June 20th.

Although we've not met UW's deadline, is it possible to be put on a waiting list for any assistance? Ie, no newspaper, no time to read it, no money for computer, relocated twice since fire, etc, etc.

Mary: Definitely call the number above. I'm not sure if any funds are still open to fire assistance, but it's possible.
