We’re talking about Urban Garden Share (urbangardenshare.org), a dating site-inspired web portal where people who love to garden but lack the space and/or means can find the yard-owner of their dreams. (And vice versa: people with a nice, sunny plot of land but no desire to garden can find someone willing to come turn that dirt into delicious edibles.) It’s a perfect example of 21st century lifestyle symbiosis. The site started in Seattle and has since expanded to service seven U.S. cities, including Santa Cruz. The pickings are still slim, but with urban gardening booming from a green trend to a mainstream way of life, the Santa Cruz chapter is sure to take off.
