Libra: Pondering The Path of Return

Libra: Pondering The Path of Return

Transition Town News—Rob Hopkins, founder of International Transition Movement, on a rare tour of the U.S., visits San Francisco area, Oct. 10-12; Los Angeles area Oct. 13-14 and other towns. transitionus.org/rob-hopkins-visit.

Libra is Ray 3, Divine Intelligence. In the east Aries is noontime, Libra midnight. Aries is passion for the natural life. Libra is passion for social life —fashion, food, cities, jewels, literature, etc.—the life material. In Libra the material world blossoms in fullness, grace and beauty. Libra’s symbol, the scale, signifies equilibrium, balance and justice. Leo protects the Law, Sag is the sign of Judges, but Libra is the actual sign of justice, weighing of the scales. King Solomon, evaluating the mothers’ stores, was Libra.

Libra New Moon Festival: Let Choice Be Made.

Libra New Moon Festival: Let Choice Be Made.

It’s a rather unusual, possibly irrational and unexpected week, with things unforeseen, unanticipated and unpredicted occurring. We may experience a subtle nervousness and anxiety due to Uranus interacting with the Sun and planets. Sun/Moon in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries - creating all things unexpected and new with finance and relationships.

Friday (Libra new moon festival) through Tuesday, Saturn, Mercury, Uranus and Scorpio are all in a jumble of interactions. Things interconnected yet uncompromising continue throughout the week. We seek harmony and confront chaos. The moon (humanity) travels between the planets, with Uranus in charge. Change becomes the norm.

The Soul and Spiritual Task of the United States

The Soul and Spiritual Task of the United States

Sunday is Fall Equinox with Sun entering Libra. Autumn and winter emphasize the Soul. “Destiny of the Nations,” by Alice Bailey (scribe for the Tibetan Teacher Djwhal Khul) refers to the Soul purpose of the United States. I quote from the book in the light of the Syrian situation.

All the Kings Horses and All the Kings Men

All the Kings Horses and All the Kings Men

This is a potent week leading up to Wednesday, Sept. 18 when a Yod, Finger (Will, Direction) of God (sextile and two inconjuncts) points to the Gemini rising and Uranus of the United States’ chart.
We’re standing at a gateway of the new world, the new age, the new civilization’s new ideas and culture. Saturn in Scorpio offers us opportunities to reorient from the solar plexus (separations) to the heart (unity), and to bring about the needed changes leading to the Path of Return.

Rosh Hashanah (New Year) & Virgo New Moon Festival

Rosh Hashanah (New Year) & Virgo New Moon Festival

On Thursday two festivals occur—the Virgo new moon festival (13 Virgo, Mercury in Virgo) and the first day of Rosh Hashanah (till Sept. 6), the Jewish New Year (High Holy Days, Days of Awe). The blowing of the shofar (ram’s horn) begins 10 days of asking (and offering) forgiveness, ending in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
“Let matter reign” is the personality-building keynote for Virgo new moon. Matter (the word) originates from the Latin mater (mother).

Amidst the Whirling Forces

Amidst the Whirling Forces

The astrological week begins Thursday with Mercury opposite Chiron (seeking to heal) and Mercury inconjunct Uranus (puzzled about creating the New Era Community). We feel saddened (Chiron) at the state of our world and feeling unable to change it. Sun/Saturn tells us we have the tools for the new world. Saturn in Scorpio helps us emerge out of the Matrix of our present thinking. Here is how humanity, in turmoil, feels at present as we enter the new Aquarian world.

The Meaning of ‘LIFE’

With a new documentary film about his work, and huge exhibits on both coasts, acclaimed Santa Cruz nature photographer Frans Lanting is having a landmark year. But his crusade for conservation doesn’t leave much time for looking back

Seasons of Opportunity

Everything in our world has a specific time (a season) in which to accomplish a specific work—a “season” that begins (opportunity) and ends (time’s up). I can feel the season is changing. The leaves turning colors, the air cooler, sunbeams casting shadows in different places. It feels like a seasonal change has begun in the northern hemisphere. Christmas is in four months, and 2015 is swiftly speeding by. Soon it will be autumn and time for the many Festivals of Light. Each season offers new opportunities. Then the season ends and new seasons take its place. Humanity, too, is given “seasons” of opportunity. We are in one of those opportunities now, to bring something new (Uranus) into our world, especially in the United States. Times of opportunity can be seen in the astrology chart. In the U.S. chart, Uranus (change) joins Chiron (wound/healing). This symbolizes a need to heal the wounds of humanity. Uranus offers new archetypes, new ways of doing things. The Uranus/Chiron (Aries/Pisces) message is, “The people of the U.S. are suffering. New actions are needed to bring healing and well-being to humanity. So the U.S. can fulfill its spiritual task of standing within the light and leading humanity within and toward the light.” Thursday, Aquarius Moon, Mercury enters Libra. The message, “To bring forth the new order in the world, begin with acts of Goodwill.” Goodwill produces right relations with everyone and everything. The result is a world of progressive well-being and peacefulness (which is neither passive nor the opposite of war). Saturday is the full moon, the solar light of Virgo streaming into the Earth. Our waiting now begins, for the birth of new light at winter solstice. The mother (hiding the light of the soul, the holy child), identifying the feminine principle, says, “I am the mother and the child. I, God (Father), I Matter (Mother), We are One.”

Comanche Cellars

Michael Simons, owner and winemaker of Comanche Cellars, once had a trusted steed called Comanche, which was part of his paper route and his rodeo circuit, from the tender age of 10. In memory of this beautiful horse, he named his winery Comanche, and Comanche’s shoes grace the label of each handcrafted bottle.
