Mother of the World & Mercury Direct

RisaNewSIt’s Mother’s Day Sunday. And so, from our heart, let us give thanks for our mothers. Let’s pray also for those who have lost their mothers, who never knew their biological mothers, mothers who adopted or were adopted. We also pray for families separated by wars, disasters or conflict. Mother’s Day morning is Pisces (compassion) moon with a v/c from 1:12 p.m. till 2:29 p.m. (Pacific time) when Aries moon begins. Planning the day around these energies helps the day be successful (or not). I suggest not giving mother gifts during the v/c. In Santa Cruz, Mother’s Day is also the Day of the Reskilling Expo, Temple Beth El, Aptos, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a painting titled Mother of the World by Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. See:  american-buddha.com/mother.world.htm. Note her covered eyes. In the Aquarian Age, when justice prevails, when women and men are equal, when the scales are balanced, perhaps the veil will be removed.

Tuesday, May 11, 3:27 p.m. Mercury turns stationary direct. Gradually we can resume our usual activities, driving (and drivers) become less erratic, communication eases, our minds clear, we can consider what large appliances, car or home to purchase. We can plan trips, create agendas, have meetings. Interactions will progress more smoothly than in the past three weeks. In the meantime, the NGWS, the Christ and Hierarchy, are holding intact the blessings from the Buddha. They are being held in safekeeping until their distribution at the Gemini Full Moon Festival of Humanity. Let us all hold and safeguard them together until then.

Esoteric Astrology as News for the week of May 6–May 12, 2010 For Sun and Rising Signs

ariesAries-March 21–April 20
In this last week, tend to all promises, follow all rules, act like a Taurus (which may feel a bit daunting and restrictive) and make sure that no aversion or opposition colors your attitude and ways of being. Honor is most important and one progresses more easily when the virtues of patience, understanding and grace are cultivated. You can do these things.

taurusTaurus
April 21–May 21
Your energy is up and down, high and low, there and not there. Your responsibilities however remain and each day more appear. You would rather turn away, find friends to chat with, take short trips to the bank and back, garden, and either envision or research all that’s needed for the future. When responsibilities and the need for freedom collide, it’s best to simply focus on goals. Or garden. Then you can continue to dream.

geminiGemini
May 22–June 20
Heavens! There are two distinctly polarized situations occurring. One keeps you behind the scenes and the other out in the world where all your values are apparent and actually you want to talk about them because they define you. However, you’re also pulled into quietude and silence, a sort of repose before the storm or Sun or something that’s coming. Perhaps it’s a lot of praise. Or a move.

cancerCancer
June 21–July 20
You consider your resources and wonder if they need redirecting and you wonder if how you’re using them is efficient for both long- and short-term needs and then family needs crop up and you worry and fret and don’t sleep nights and the past reoccurs and you’re hurting sometimes and need help. It’s hard to ask for help, isn’t it? And hard to trust it will come.

leoLeo
July 21–August 22
Each day more and more clarity about work and purpose and resources occurs and each day you feel more courage to pursue unusual goals, to fight for what’s right, to realize that a values shift is taking place in your life and this shift may create a future you only hoped for. A new two-year cycle has begun and it’s calling up all hopes, dreams and wishes you’ve ever had and asking you to follow your heart. Where is it (your heart)?

virgoVirgo
August 23–September 22
The past three years have been challenging for Virgos. There’s been a shifting of structures, a sense that someone is being your taskmaster and you’ve had many responsibilities to tend to. Soon, this will end and you will feel a freedom and relief from the taxing demands and tests undergone. You have only a few weeks more. Then it’s over. You should quietly celebrate.

libraLibra
September 23–October 22
A more strict and sober view of life is very quietly beginning to take hold of your thoughts and feelings. This is good. However it could feel restrictive. Simply consider it as another step in growing up, being responsible, learning how to tend to the demands of life and how to act with more finesse and refinement. There’s a struggle for balance, a struggle to be heard and understood. There is no compromise. Be strong and call for courage.

scorpioScorpio
October 23–November 21
You had obligations. Then your dreams came to roost amidst your obligations. And you had to choose. And then relationship issues (questions?) cropped up and you had more than you could handle. Something is changing within. It’s pushing you to break the mold and all previous patterned ways of being. Follow this. It’s a call from your future. Don’t resist.

saggSagittarius
November 22–December 20
Tremendous work was called for this month and it will continue. If you take each day and work slowly through it (like a Taurus), then you will come to the end of each day with feelings of great success and pride in what you have accomplished. Is there someone special contacting you? Or the possibility of money from someone close? Be prepared, after a small respite, for new work to appear. High energy will be called for. Rest now.

capricornCapricorn
December 21–January 20
Your creative force can be found in the garden, woods, fields and meadows. It can be found with cows, hands in the earth, plants with deep roots, and a pantry (or lunchbox) filed with sweet and savory homemade edibles. What I’ve mentioned is both healthy and comforting for you and these will safeguard your sense of safety and security. There’s everything to be passionate about. What has chosen you? Drink raw milk.

aquariusAquarius
January 21–February 18
The focus on relationships, whether it’s many people in your life seeking your attention or your need to have a sense of intimacy with another, could make you feel a bit jittery and unsure. You feel both delighted and confused (wondering about the other). You also want to create both beauty and security to your home. Something about home and money will occur in the coming month.

piscesPisces
February 19–March 20
You are being pushed into independence. This is a new stage for you. However, know that you are fully capable and have the essential qualities and gifts to rely on yourself, to move forward into your future and make correct decisions based upon your needs and no longer the needs of others (which Pisces looks to first). Courage is presenting itself. Wear it like a mantle and a crown.

Gemini Sun, Pentecost, Shavuot—Enlightenment and Gladness

As the sun enters Gemini on Sunday, sign of speaking, communication, thinking, inter-relations, writing and understanding languages, the feast days of Pentecost & Shavuot (Catholic and Jewish festivals) occur. During Pentecost’s 50 days after Easter, tongues of fire appear above the heads of the disciples, providing them with the ability to understand all languages and all feelings hidden in the minds and hearts of humanity. It’s recorded that Pentecost began with a loud noise, which happened in an upper room (signifying the mind). The Christ (World Teacher) told his disciples (after his ascension) when encountering a man at a well carrying a water pot (signs for Age of Aquarius) to follow him to an upper room. There, the Holy Spirit (Ray 3 of Divine Intelligence) would overshadow them, expand their minds, give them courage and enable them to teach throughout the world, speaking all languages and thus able to minister to the true needs of a “seeking” humanity. Pentecost (50 days, pentagram, Ray 5, Venus, concrete and scientific knowledge, the Ray of Aquarius) sounds dramatic, impressive and scary: The loud noise, a thunderous rush of wind and then “tongues of fire” above the heads of each disciple (men and women). Fire has purpose. It purifies, disintegrates, purges, transforms and liberates (frees) us from the past. This was the Holy Spirit (Ray 3, love and wisdom) being received by the disciples, so they would teach in the world and inform humanity of the Messiah (Christ), who initiated the new age (Pisces) and gave humanity the new law (adding to the 10 Commandments of the Aries Age) to Love (Ray 2) one another. Note: Gemini is also Ray 2. Shavuot is the Jewish Festival of Gladness, the First Fruits Festival celebrating the giving of the 10 Commandments to Moses as the Aries Age was initiated. Thus, we have two developmental stages here, Jewish festival of the Old Testament. Pentecost of the New Testament. We have gladness, integrating both.

What’s your take on Santa Cruz locals?

Santa Cruz locals are really friendly once you know them. I think a lot of them have a hard time leaving, and I would too. Ryan Carle, Santa Cruz, Biologist

Soquel Vineyards

If Soquel Vineyards partners Peter and Paul Bargetto and Jon Morgan were walking down the street wearing their winning wine competition medals, you’d hear them coming from a mile away. This year was particularly rewarding for the Bargettos and Morgan—they won two Double Gold Medals and five Gold Medals at January’s San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
