Chirotic Times

RisaNewSWe’re in chirotic times: times of chaos, crisis, catastrophe and calamity (earthquakes, tsunami, war in Libya, etc.) leading to a new world era. What is occurring, how do we understand it? Ray 1 is streaming into the world, in specific places (spiritual outlets). Ray 1 (Pluto/Vulcan), at first, destroys, liberating materialism and removing what obstructs the new creation. Ray 1 (Will of God, Purpose), later, builds the new realities, culture and civilization. For now we are in the first phase of destruction. On the inner planes, it is always “Love that underlies the happenings of the times.” Great sacrifice has love at the center.
We’re in Aries now: Pisces waters merged into Aries’ fires. During Aries we hear (appropriately) about clashes and wars (Mars), protests (Mercury) and revolutions (Uranus). Mars and Aries are fiery, anchoring the life force within matter (Rays 1 & 7). Fire expresses spirit. Liturgical News: We’re in Lent (40 days and nights of purification prior to Easter/Resurrection). Thursday is the Annunciation. Angel Gabriel announces to Mary she will be the Mother of the Savior. Mercury News: Mercury begins to retrograde (Aries, 24 degrees), Wednesday, till Holy Saturday (April 23, 12 Aries). We all know what to do (and not). Retrograde means review.

Esoteric Astrology as News for the week of Mar 24–Mar 30, 2010 For Sun and Rising Signs

ariesAries-March 21–April 20
You review your appearance, how you’re seen in the world, seeking a new level of self-esteem and self-care. You assess use of power and will. Your mind is strong. In attempting to understand how to “lead humanity into the light,” you must first stand in that light, which pierces the darkness freeing the new ideas flowing forth. These ideas are impressed upon your mind. Observe this. Create a journal (record) of impressions.

taurusTaurus
April 21–May 21
All around you will be signs of two fishes (Pisces). You begin to connect the mind with love. Actually love is pure reason. You distinguish between the lower mind and the Higher. One separates into bits and pieces of knowledge, always questioning; the other unifies that knowledge into Pallas Athena, intuition. By communicating with great Love, you are able to awaken awareness of Love within others. Many love you.

geminiGemini
May 22–June 20
If you ponder upon the symbol of Aquarius the water bearer, and the Aquarian keynote, “waters of life poured forth for thirsty humanity,” and if you study the Aquarian Laws of Principles you will begin to understand the unifying principles behind the work you are seeking to do – uniting first your heart and mind, then uniting groups with the new Aquarian ideas and ideals (one follows the other). In your heart you want to serve humanity. Your intuition is strong. You see patterns. You seek your group. It’s waiting.

cancerCancer
June 21–July 20
Although it’s difficult, you seek to relate clearly and intelligently. A new level of creative intelligence will be coming forth. It’s different than before and initially not recognized by you. Look for this new creativity to come forth from you into the world. It will be a strand of the Mind of God seeking to anchor the new sharing principles of the New Age. You will be sensitive to the collective called humanity, the World Disciple. You will feed them.

leoLeo
July 21–August 22
You assess what it means to be a teacher as your Higher Mind overshadows your lower. You realize you must impart to others on the Path, the vision of your truth. You cannot be silent, continually hiding behind veils of protection. You are to take up bow and arrow and pierce the hearts of both the sleepers and the seekers. Teaching others becomes your loving service. Thus you “resurrect” everyone’s mind.

virgoVirgo
August 23–September 22
Pondering upon Ray 4, Harmony Created through Conflict, is an important study at this time. Perceiving reality through Ray 4, it describes your (and humanity’s) way of being. We learn through Ray 4. You will sense a great testing. They lead to the knowledge of a power to be used for either good or the not-good. You are also to raise desire toward aspiration. What is the difference in these two words?

libraLibra
September 23–October 22
Let us consider the words Right Human Relations. These words begin with the intention for Goodwill and the result is the process of peace(fullness). These are Libra words, made just for you. They foster humanitarian vision, communication and unification. Libra links disparate realities, ideas that save the world. All Libras are being called to the Path of World Service. That path includes the transformative love of family, produced through forgiveness.

scorpioScorpio
October 23–November 21
You may begin to sense an affinity with the moon, the seashore, crabs and crabby things. Don’t be crabby yourself, though. You may begin to feel an affinity with mother and mothering, with nurturing of self and others. How do you nurture and what nurtures you? Very important questions. You discover you’re gestating new ideas concerning daily life, health, service. These ideas are to be shared with the “world of men.”

saggSagittarius
November 22–December 20
Notice your creative powers are very strong, immediate and connected with your thoughts, which want to externalize immediately and intimately. Soon, you will assess where your rest, recreation, time with friends (true friends), children, play and simple pleasures are to be found? You will assess if any of this ever truly happens. And if not, you will set about creating them, reaching out, making contact. It’s all about Love.

capricornCapricorn
December 21–January 20
Life’s on the edge now and protection of family is paramount. You’re attempting to balance everything into a state of harmony. Begin with yourself. Then you can communicate emotional security. Everything seems to be falling down—as it should. You/we are in a paradox. The old passing away, the new only in potential. You, however, holding strong, must see all three levels (past, present/future). You learn how to speak the Truth.

aquariusAquarius
January 21–February 18
You sense that everything’s filled with possibilities. Life becomes a lively state of affairs, many streams of thought coming together, you front and center. You seek pure reason – mind and heart merging. Realizing this advances humanity you create experiences, writing, artwork with this in mind. Your speech and manners become graceful, refined, poised, charming, filled with the thoughts and intentions for Goodwill.

piscesPisces
February 19–March 20
There’s an idea in the Mind of God. You know it must be anchored on Earth. Previous attempts didn’t work. The time was not right. Earth wasn’t prepared. The present times of destruction are preparing the way for a greater beauty, a new education to emerge on Earth. You are to continue to bring forth the information so all minds can be illumined. Call upon the Forces of Enlightenment to assist.

Dancing In the Rain

District Attorney Bob Lee’s death in October stunned the Santa Cruz community, but he had battled cancer fiercely—and privately—for more than a decade. Now one of his closest friends reveals the remarkable inside story

Giving and Giving, Then Giving Some More

2014 is almost over. Wednesday, Dec. 17, the Jewish Festival of Light, Hanukkah, begins. We are in our last week of Sag and last two weeks of December. Sunday, Dec. 21 is winter Solstice, as the sun enters Capricorn (3:30 p.m. for the west coast). Soon after, the Capricorn new moon occurs (5:36 p.m. for the west coast)—the last new moon of 2014. Sunday morning Uranus in Aries (revolution, revelation) is stationary direct (retro since July 22). Uranus/Aries create things new and needed to anchor the new culture and civilization (Aquarius). We will see revolutionary change in 2015. Capricorn new moon, building-the-personality seed thought, is, “Let ambition rule and let the door to initiation and freedom stand wide (open).” Capricorn is a gate—where matter returns to spirit. But the gate is unseen until the Ajna Center (third eye), Diamond Light of Direction, opens. Winter solstice is the longest day of darkness of the year. The sun’s rays resting at the Tropic of Capricorn (southern hemisphere) symbolize the Christ (soul’s) light piercing the heart of the Earth, remaining there for three days, till Holy Night (midnight Thursday morning). Then the sun’s light begins to rise. It is the birth of the new light (holy child) for the world. A deep calm and stillness pervades the world. The entire planet is revivified, re-spiritualized. All hearts beating reflect this Light. And so throughout the Earth there’s a radiant “impress” (impressions, pictures) given to humanity of the World Mother and her Child. The star Sirius (love/direction) and the constellation Virgo the mother shines above. For gift giving, give to those in need. Give and give and then give some more. This creates the new template of giving and sharing for the new world.

Best Bites of 2014

A look back at the year in good taste

What downtown business is good for both one-stop shopping and last-minute gifts?

The Homeless Garden Project store. Because it is a community effort and has really useful and beautiful things, and allows you to connect with a lot of folks who are doing great work in Santa Cruz. Miriam Greenberg, Santa Cruz, UCSC Professor

Vino Tabi Winery

One of Santa Cruz’s most happening areas to go wine tasting is in the westside’s Swift Street Courtyard complex. Ever since a group of about a dozen wineries got together and formed Surf City Vintners (SCV), the place has been a hive of activity, and a wine-tasting mecca. Adding to the mix is the lively Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing beer company—making Swift Street Courtyard a perfect spot for a glass of wine or a pitcher of ale.
