Advent, Adventus

We are in the time of Advent now, preparing for winter solstice’s new light (signified by the Holy Child’s birth). Advent is Latin for adventus meaning “something’s about to happen, something’s arriving.” Advent is a “season” of expectancy: It’s a lingering hushed yet celebratory time. The Hebrews await the Messiah; Christians, the Second Coming; Esotericists, Christ’s Re-appearance; Buddhists, the Bodhisattva, Hindus, the Avatar; Mohammedans, the Imam Mahdi; Earth’s kingdoms await the new light of the Sun ascending from the tropic of Capricorn at winter solstice.

Two weeks of Advent are in the Mercury retrograde creating a double “reflective focus” within us. The contemplations of Mercury-retrograde, the coming new light along with Advent all create a subtle transformation in out etheric template (aura), which transforms our lives. In this first week of December, Venus in Capricorn (monetary structures of our money) joins Pluto in Capricorn (transformation of all structures, including government).

This is a worldwide transit. All structures, money, government everywhere are affected. Friday, Sun squares Mars (Sag/Virgo). Our ethics are challenged and we reflect upon this. We must meet the New Age’s laws, principles and sharing requirements. Mercury continues to be retrograde until the 13th. We must give deep thought to the gifts we buy, lest they seem “less than” after Mercury turns direct. Other solutions are to buy nothing, research making simply practical items at home, the many other ways to give (tithing, charity, etc. in service to those in need) and to serve (Soup Kitchens, Missions), etc. Mercury retrograde is the inner messenger. Revelations come forth.

Esoteric Astrology as News for the week of Dec. 1–7, 2011 For Sun and Rising Signs

ariesAries-March 21–April 20
In the next month assess the many ways you are valuable. Perhaps this is difficult? Ponder upon and make lists of your gifts, abilities, kindnesses, good associations, good deeds, thoughts, ideas and plans. Here is your value. Place these lists on walls, doors and mirrors, and reviewing them each day. This is the beginning of your self-identity as a server for humanity— the great tasks for Aries (sun, moon, rising) in the Aquarian Age.

April 21–May 21
Things go into hiding for a while, especially you, for rest and protection. Someone else is hiding, too. They’re very valuable to you. Tend to them with care. They’re knowledgeable and have skills needed for your next creative stage and for humanity’s educational future. Money too is hidden at this time. However, it’s still available but you must call it forth and tend to practical things.

May 22–June 20
Past friends, partners, intimates, relationships, and past resources should be renewed and contacted. They’re valuable for reasons revealed in the future. A certain group, also from the past, holds the information and Love/Wisdom (Ray 2, Gemini’s ray) you need. They hold out to you technical possibilities and the new physics allowing you to entrance into understanding the mysteries. Are you studying your astrological transits?

June 21–July 20
Ponder upon the different ways you want to be seen, known and recognized in the world and in the context of helping to build the new culture and civilization - your work now. You are to nurture the new era at its foundational stages with visions of the future, which you hold. How is your garden? Do you have a worm bin; do you know how to create bio-dynamic soil? Remember to share you discoveries.

July 21–August 22
The next nine months you reassess goals, hopes, wishes and aspirations. Earth’s resources (soil, trees, plants) are vital for your well-being. Stand in the Sun and work in nature (garden)—the most balanced kingdom. The radiations strengthen heart and mind, refocuses your enthusiasm (“filled with God”), allow practicality to emerge. It’s time for your ideals to enter form and matter. Who are your companions these days?

August 23–September 22
You may struggle mentally to maintain equilibrium between desires and feelings of lack. Study once again the subject of sacrifice—1st Law of the Soul. At the center of sacrifice is Love. A seeming paradox. Sacrifice emerges from love, which underlines all events and lives on Earth. We are the Sacrificial Ones. You may feel that you’ve become the nurturer. What calls to you for nurturance?

September 23–October 22
You assess past and present relationships in terms of changing values. Simultaneously, it’s most important to assess the values you offer and if there is more you can give of Right Relations through intentions for Goodwill. Allow only the goodness of yourself in relationships. Goodness is a purity and an inner quality. What is your goodness and what do you offer others? Include all relationships. Remember true love isn’t a feeling.

October 23–November 21
Tend to all daily things small and necessary, giving them your deepest attention and awareness. Observe habits, agendas (going awry), how you care for yourself, your work, all environments and everyone in your many worlds. We evolve slowly by tending to physical, emotional, then mental needs, progressing to the Soul. Each day “brood upon your service (work) for the coming day. This is Soul Work. The personality then quiets.

November 22–December 20
A return to previous, perhaps set-aside creative work allows you to redefine, reassess and reaffirm its importance to your life’s work. There’s a renewed fire in your mind, calling you to change leading to a sense of play, missed in your life recently. A direct creative work reflects a new emerging identity. All parts of you seek a spiritual unity. God’s body is nature itself. You must spend time there.

December 21–January 20
You’re neither sentimental nor emotional. You see the need for nourishment and realize one source of nourishment is financial security. How would this security look in terms of work, home and land? Each area you live and work in calls for order and organization, purity of focus, warmth, color and quality. Do you have a work place for your creative arts and for preparing pure foods? Should communication wound, turn the other cheek.

January 21–February 18
It’s possible groups and events from the past show up for reassessment. We learn from our experiences and eventually we create rules out of what we’ve learned. You will begin to eliminate all not absolutely necessary. Is there a need for travel or are plans being made for travel somewhere distant. Careful with those plans. They will change unexpectedly. All of humanity must become adaptable quickly.

February 19–March 20
Life becomes subtler, slightly different and you respond with compassion. Tend to all debts and then tithe to those in need. St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Catholic Charities; Doctors Without Borders; UNESCO; The Red Cross, the Heifer Project that builds community. Especially in difficult financial times the spiritual law is whatsoever we give is returned ten-fold. As we serve others our life is cared for. The 3rd Law of the Soul is Service.

A Ritual & Initiation

The Pope has come and gone, but his loving presence ignited new hope and goodness in many. While he was in NYC, China’s ruler arrived in Washington D.C. East (China) and West (Rome), meeting in the middle, under Libra, balancing sign of Right Relations. The Pope arrived at Fall Equinox. Things initiated at Fall Equinox are birthed at Winter Solstice. The Pope’s presence was a ritual, an initiation rite—like the Dalai Lama’s visits—offering prayers, teachings and blessings. Rituals anchor God’s plan into the world, initiating us to new realities, new rules. The Pope’s presence brings forth the Soul of the United States, its light piercing the veils of materialism. The Pope’s visit changed things. New questions arise, new reasons for living. A new wave of emerging life fills the air. Like a cocoon shifting, wings becoming visible. The winds are different now. Calling us to higher vision, moral values, virtues that reaffirm and offer hope for humanity. A changing of the guard has occurred. Appropriately, this is the week of the Jewish Festival of Sukkoth (’til Oct. 4), when we build temporary homes (little huts in nature), entering into a harvest of prayer and thanksgiving, understanding our fragile and impermanent existences. We are summoned to reflect upon our lives, our humanity, our nature, our spirit and each other. Offering gratitude, becoming a magnet for others. We observe. We see the needs. We love more.
