Palm Sunday & Mercury Stationary Direct

RisaNewS

Sun square Pluto on Thursday challenges us to bring everything hidden into the light of day. The light transforms and uplifts. This aspect between Sun and Pluto reflects the prayer from the Upanishads (ancient Vedic Hindu prayer), “Lead us O Lord, from darkness to light, from the unreal to the real, from death to immortality, from chaos to beauty.”

Thursday is influenced by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and the heart of the Aquarian Age. We need, in our world, the light and reality of immortality to create beauty out of the present purposeful chaos.

Thursday afternoon Cancer moon anchors (Ray 7) the intelligence (Ray 3) that nourishes humanity. In our last solar system we developed the lower mind. In this solar system we must develop the higher abstract mind (Jupiter), foundation of the Intuition (Pallas Athena).

Saturday Mars in Virgo inconjuncts Uranus in Aries, as Venus in Taurus inconjuncts (150 degrees apart) Saturn in Libra! Inconjunct signifies nothing works well together, there’s no understanding of the elements (differing) creating an inability to cooperate. We stand solitary wherever we are. Mars/Uranus – a jolt somewhere occurs. Venus/Saturn, we don’t know where our resources are or their value.

Sunday is Palm Sunday. Fresh palms lined the streets in Jerusalem when Jesus, the Christ, passed through. As the people recognized He was the Pisces World Teacher, He realized this was the Path toward His betrayal, death and Crucifixion (an Initiation we all take) at the end of the week.

Esoteric Astrology as News for the week of Mar 29–Apr 4, 2012 For Sun and Rising Signs

ariesAries-March 21–April 20

You must be dreaming more often, feeling more instinctive, sometimes confused, sensitive, inspired and insightful at times. Prayer, meditation, study, contemplation call to you. They create gentleness and a compassionate and caring way of being. When you find yourself in a group calling for your leadership to help create the future these virtues step forward. This new world is in your visions.

taurusTaurus April 21–May 21

You have one task—to focus on your health. Tend to joints and bones; tend to your heart, taking more calcium/magnesium, not allowing anxiety or stress, eating calming foods. Use your great practicality to care for yourself. You must choose daily what’s best – to be out and about socially, leading everyone into the future, or remaining at home and in the garden creating your perfect health. Begin with daily enzymes and probiotics.

geminiGemini May 22–June 20

Something revelatory happens between you and the world, between you and your work and you and certain groups. You’re inspired, encouraged and guided. With careful study, years of preparation, and viewing the past in terms of your gifts, a spiritual pathway opens, choices and commitments are more easily made, and gratitude settles into your heart. Can you talk about this?

cancer
Cancer
June 21–July 20

What have you been mostly thinking of during this Mercury and Mars retrograde? Has a new and different study been introduced? What these days makes you feel generous and at home? Is there’s a new reality or interest presenting itself? You want to participate fully, but something’s obstructing you. Are you disturbed by something? Do you feel you’re not smart enough?

leo
Leo
July 21–August 22

You’re becoming more perceptive, intuitive and enlightened and this affects those you work with. Someone, something (words, ideas, memories of someone in particular) will create a shift into greater and deeper awareness of how you have related in previous relationships. Your mind sorts through ideas of intimacy, money, sadness sometimes, and old dreams. Love is good, all the time, even when it hurts, which means you’re learning.

virgo
Virgo
August 23–September 22

You will relate better with others, especially those close to you, if you offer love as unqualified and unconditional. This is something many of us need yet to learn. When we do so, we flourish and thrive and discover greater support and guidance when needed. Challenging others doesn’t work. Compassion does. It nourishes the heart.

libra
Libra
September 23–October 22

Think, visualize and pray daily for all that you want and need your life to be. Include art, creativity and your vocation along with relationships, children and partnerships. If you’re not sure, then ask yourself each day, “What are my hopes, dreams and wishes? What are my abilities and gifts?” In the coming year you become stronger, more resilient. Take very cautionary care with money and resources. You need a fish in a fish bowl for a special pet.

scorpio

Scorpio October 23–November 21

Use your resources and investments in terms of preparing for the future. Find a forward-thinking money manager. Think seriously about a new economy needing to unfold. It will look much different than our present one. Don’t speculate on the old economy. Instead study books on greenhouses and bio-shelters, using resources to create these environments. You then become forward thinking.

sagg

Sagittarius November 22–December 20

The planets in the sky are affecting your money, your foundation, your family and home situation, your creativity, and presenting possibilities in terms of relationships, partnerships, and for some, marriage. So many different realities pulsing within and around you. Something kind and benevolent, something sacrificial and sad is remembered in your family. Are relatives and loved ones on your mind? This is a stage of remembrance.

capricorn

Capricorn December 21–January 20

You’re thinking optimistically about a change of residence, or doing something new about how and/or where you live? You want to bring more grace and goodness, ease and beauty to your family life. You recognize everyone’s doing their very best, especially you, and you’re asking for a big change. Begin writing (journaling) in earnest and drawing up wants and needs. This is your next creative endeavor.

aquarius
Aquarius
January 21–February 18

Money and resources are going through a definite change—less money and more need to stabilize. This means more attention to the well-being of your finances is needed. Don’t forget to use resources to help others. When we serve others, we are taken care of. The charts show a change of home or location, something new occurring there. Follow calls to you. It’s purposeful.

pisces
Pisces
February 19–March 20

Neptune in Pisces brings forth a new state of reality, and at times confusion. Neptune blends many realities together into one reality. It’s difficult to make sense of the blending, and details can dissolve away. Be aware of and observe this occurring. Neptune is not the planet of detail. It’s the planet of refinement, of parting the veils, of watery realms where dreams are alive. Neptune transits can make us tired to exhausted.

Best of Santa Cruz County 2014

The 2014 Santa Cruz County Readers' Poll Come on in, and have a look around. There’s a lot to see—hundreds of winners selected by thousands of GT readers across Santa Cruz County. So if some of this looks familiar, it’s probably because you helped make it happen. But there are always new things to discover, too—you could go to a different winner or runner-up every day in the Food and Drink category alone, and you’d be booked just about until next year’s Best of Santa Cruz County issue comes out.

Something Essential Disappears

Lunar and solar eclipses follow one another. Lunar eclipses occur at full moons, and solar eclipses at new moons. Two weeks ago at the full moon we had the blood red moon—a total lunar eclipse (the next one is Oct. 8). On Monday night, April 28 (new moon), as the Sun, Moon and Earth align, a solar eclipse (Sun obscured) occurs. Eclipses signify something irrevocably is changed in our world. The Sun is our essential life force. Monday’s new moon, 9 degrees Taurus, is also an annular solar eclipse when the Moon moves centrally in front of the Sun, yet does not cover the Sun completely. The Sun's outer edges, still visible, form a “ring of fire” around the Moon.

Sugar: The New Tobacco?

Proposed bill would require warning labels on sugary drinks Will soda and other saccharine libations soon come with a health warning? They will if it’s up to our state senator, Bill Monning (D-Carmel). On Feb. 27, Monning proposed first-of-its-kind legislation that would require a consumer warning label be placed on sugar-sweetened beverages sold in California. SB 1000, also known as the Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act, was proposed to provide vital information to consumers about the harmful effects of consuming sugary drinks, such as sodas, sports drinks, energy drinks, and sweetened teas.

Palate-Stretching 101

A wine education with Soif’s experts As a veteran of many weekend wine “seminars” at Soif, I have to confess that I’ve never known less (going in) and learned more (coming out) than I did last week at the Spanish Wine Tasting with ace rep Brian Greenwood. These are classy, casual events and it’s hard to imagine having this much flavor fun anywhere for $20.

Martin Ranch Winery

Sauvignon Blanc 2011 One of my favorite wines is Sauvignon Blanc, and this one made by Martin Ranch is particularly lovely. Bright, crisp and refreshing, it’s perfect to pair with fish and shellfish—and good for picnics as it has an easy screw-cap bottle. There’s nothing worse than setting down your blanket, pulling out your sandwiches—and then realizing you don’t have a corkscrew.

Foodie File: Red Apple Cafe

Breakfast takes center stage at Gracia Krakauer's Red Apple Cafe Before they moved to Aptos, Gracia and her husband Dan Krakauer would visit friends in Santa Cruz County and eat at the Red Apple Café all the time. Then they moved up here from Santa Monica five years ago, and bought the Aptos location (there’s a separate one in Watsonville) from the family who owned it for two decades.

How would you feel about a tech industry boom in Santa Cruz?

I feel like it would ruin the small old-town feeling of Santa Cruz. It wouldn’t be the same Surf City kind of vacation town that it is. Antoinette BennettSanta Cruz | Construction Management
