‘Build a Lighted House’

RisaNewS

We are more than half way through the year, moving swiftly toward winter solstice when three great time cycles end, and three greater time cycles begin. Humanity stands at the crossroads—to envision, build and construct the new Aquarian world, the new culture and civilization. Or not. As the Piscean Age was the Age of Religion, the Aquarian Age is the Age of Humanity—no longer an age of kings, pharaohs or corporate ruling governments.

It is the age of humanity seeing the needs of its kingdom (and the kingdoms it stewards) and understanding its true spiritual purpose (World Disciple). It is humanity envisioning and constructing the new world —the “city four-square”—a specific esoteric phrase for “the new era or New Sharing society.” This new era has four directions, four angels sounding four words, that each day ring around the square, directing humanity toward its essential tasks. The northern angel says, “Be pure.” The southern, “Dedicate”. From the East, a light divine, “Love All.” And from the West, “Serve.” These four words—purity, dedication, love and service—are not virtuous qualities. They are potent occult forces, dynamic and creative, producing precipitation” Ancient in their meaning, these are the words of the White Magician—“One who manifests, anchors Spirit into matter, creating the new order and rhythm on Earth.” In the unfolding Aquarian Age, humanity is called to a new spiritual attainmen— that of “building a lighted house for all of humanity to dwell within.” Tuesday’s full moon, Cancer (sign of massed humanity in need) solar festival, calls us to this “great work.” Wednesday is the 236th birthday of the United States, a country in need of new enlightened servers. Under Cancer’s full moon light, for the U.S. birthday, let us radiate outward the four words, let us become the Light of the World that “nourishes the little ones,” let us recite the ancient mantram of Service together. “And so let it be and help us know and do our part.”

Esoteric Astrology as News for the week of Jun 28–Jul 4, 2012 For Sun and Rising Signs

ariesAries-March 21–April 20

Careful with thoughts and actions. Although you’re brilliant, you can, at this time, be fast and erratic. Uranus, your spiritual ruler, is calling you to act. Don’t rely on verbal promises of prosperity. All previous values are disappearing. Rely on intuition to determine the true value of everything. Call forth wisdom and courage as our world spins and turns upside down. Knowledge stabilizes. Share everything.

taurusTaurus April 21–May 21

Many follow your thoughts, words, deeds and rely on your research. It’s important to become conscious of this and complete all plans, agreements and agendas. Keep focused on initiating new projects that will impact humanity far into the future. You and only a few others are able to see their importance. Simultaneously, you must tend to your health (especially) hearth and home. Ask for specific help.

geminiGemini May 22–June 20

Mercury and Uranus, working hand in hand, can make Geminis overly anxious. The homeopath Aconite Napellis helps by grounding the electricity. You also may not be sleeping – remaining awake long into the night. TV doesn’t help. Uranus in Aries is shifting and revolutionizing all realities. You feel this. Maintain a light fresh-foods diet, eliminate excess, drink more water and each night look up to the stars. Find Polaris, the star of direction.

cancerCancer June 21–July 20

It’s important to maintain close connections to the group you identify with. Seek to understand the hopes and wishes of everyone around you. Don’t assume anything. Life everywhere is moving toward greater community goals and interactions. These will be necessary for everyone, especially families. Remember to drink more water. Add golden turmeric for color and as an anti-inflammatory.

leoLeo July 21–August 22

Is your work situation transforming? Perhaps you’re thinking about work needing a change of pace. Have your interests changed? Remember that conflict is about seeking a greater state harmony. So give conflict time to evolve. Observe those around you. There’s a group of interested and communicative people looking to you for leadership. Praise them for their gifts, abilities, qualities and goodness. True leaders do this.

virgoVirgo August 23–September 22

Are you harboring an unusual secret, putting or giving away money, in need of something someone else has? Are there resources shared with another handled brilliantly yet erratically? Is everything clear, transparent and aboveboard? These times call you to be economically prudent, thrifty and careful, conserving money and resources for spiritual purpose. You may dream more at night, entering unusual fields of communication.

libraLibra September 23–October 22

Are you creating many lists of places to travel, visit, learn about, study and perhaps try out an entirely new identity? Simultaneously, do relationships seem ever-shifting, or perhaps it’s your needs that feel untended? A wound keeps appearing, then disappearing. What is it? It has to do with a Pisces person or situation. Something needs recognition, understanding and forgiveness on your part so your heart can be eased.

scorpioScorpio October 23–November 21

Career matters assume new dimensions, co-workers need steady communication, you want to improve your health, tending more to the necessities of your life. Realizing this takes a balanced view of each day so proceed slower than usual. Forego erratic adventures and transactions, create a long-term plan with practical health goals. Your greatest achievement is accepting your present life. It’s complex. It’s beautiful.

saggSagittarius November 22–December 20

Relationship communications are most important now so listen very attentively to what others say. Have the intention to respond with intelligence and true interest. This creates emotional equilibrium. Being uncooperative creates imbalance and a sense you have neglected a responsibility. Have direct, focused attention toward others . Only from you can they feel recognized and safe.

capricornCapricorn December 21–January 20

Reviewing each day’s agendas and priorities brings forth clarity, focus and wisdom concerning the routine and unexpected. Try not to criticize anyone or anything in thoughts or words. Everyone’s working on different levels. Everyone’s suffering somewhat, everyone’s seeking harmony. With dispassion, be their harmony. New opportunities appear as ideas and goals. Rest more so you can imagine and envision more.

aquariusAquarius January 21–February 18

You may be traveling to work, play, create and/or to study this summer. Plan each week’s duties and tasks beforehand. You will be communicating on a large scale—either personally or through writing, speaking. You gain self-knowledge, clarity of purpose, happiness, and offer goodness. Everyone prospers. Tend carefully to money, finances, resources. Be frugal yet practical.

piscesPisces February 19–March 20

Home, family, property, land and community become important in the coming weeks. Tend to these carefully, improve relationships with family and bring order and organization to your living and work environments. Do nothing that unsettles personal or family’s security. Challenge no one and calm tension with exercise, prayer, vitamins, minerals and herbs. Visualize daily the natural swimming pool needed for exercise and healing.

Mercury Enters Libra

It’s the week of Burning Man, the temporary, intentional, alternative, art-filled community on the playas of Nevada. Mercury, messenger of the Sun, enters Libra this week. Libra is the equalizer, a sign of balance and right human relations. Sometimes with Libra, we can be indecisive and confused while learning how to make balanced and right choices. Sometimes to keep the peace we communicate only what others want to hear. Eventually, we learn how to speak from the heart.

Best of Santa Cruz County

The 2013 Santa Cruz County Readers' Poll and Critics’ Picks It’s our biggest issue of the year, and in it, your votes—more than 6,500 of them—determined the winners of The Best of Santa Cruz County Readers’ Poll. New to the long list of local restaurants, shops and other notables that captured your interest: Best Beer Selection, Best Locally Owned Business, Best Customer Service and Best Marijuana Dispensary. In the meantime, many readers were ever so chatty online about potential new categories. Some of the suggestions that stood out: Best Teen Program and Best Web Design/Designer. But what about: Dog Park, Church, Hotel, Local Farm, Therapist (I second that!) or Sports Bar—not to be confused with Bra. Our favorite suggestion: Best Act of Kindness—one reader noted Café Gratitude and the free meals it offered to the Santa Cruz Police Department in the aftermath of recent crimes. Perhaps some of these can be woven into next year’s ballot, so stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy the following pages and take note of our Critics’ Picks, too, beginning on page 91. A big thanks for voting—and for reading—and an even bigger congratulations to all of the winners. Enjoy.  -Greg Archer, EditorBest of Santa Cruz County Readers’ Poll INDEX

A Cab To Be Coveted

I first tasted Villa del Monte’s 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon at a Fourth of July party, where the hosts had bought a case of it because they love it and didn’t want to run out. It’s one of those wines that will grab you—in the best way—with its full body and rich fruit characteristics.
