Total Eclipse of the Sun

RisaTuesday night is the 2nd Cancer new moon (29:17 degrees) along with the longest total solar eclipse (the moon, passing between Sun & Earth, completely obscures the Sun’s light) of the 21st century. This eclipse (and the Sun’s corona – tongues of fire), the 2nd in a triplicity, is most visible in China (and parts of India, however India is in the midst of monsoon season), is also visible across SE Asia and western Pacific, lasts a total of 6 ? minutes and is 160 miles wide. The new moon solar eclipse occurs at 7:35 pm Pacific time (9:35 pm; 10:35 pm east coast). The path of totality (tracking the eclipse on the Earth’s surface) lasts 3.4 hours. Eclipses bring inner/outer realities to a completion and thus to an end. Solar eclipses conclude (end, dissolve) substantial inner realities of how we see ourselves. When the moon covers the Sun we must be aware not to allow our desire (emotional) nature dominate. Enlightenment is hidden. Wait awhile. There is not enough vital (Sun) energy to create anew (not yet). Caution. Balance feelings with reason. Or remain quiet until after the eclipse.
Eclipses, creating step by step evolutionary changes, mark endings (old) and beginnings (new), break holding patterns and affect the entire planet, not only the geographical areas falling under the eclipse path. This eclipse especially affects those with 29 (considered a critical degree) degrees in their astrological charts. Because the eclipse trines Uranus (spiritual reality comes forth creating revolution) and inconjuncts (150 degrees apart) Pluto (total transformation in government and structures) is in Cancer (our United States is Cancer Sun), issues of security, mother, nurturing, milk, home, housing (market), and foundations will be emphasized (critical issues) in the coming three months. Tuesday may be very challenging. Wednesday morning, Sun enters Leo and Jupiter joins (conjuncts) Chiron. The whole world becomes a stage, performance, dramatic production and theater both tragic and comedic. We remember Love underlies all happenings.

ARIES (March 21-April 20) What is your lineage, what are your cultural roots, your heritage, how are interactions and relations with your family, and how are you feeling these days? Your energy may be low, you must sleep a bit more, tend more to family and the home, and bring into your environments that which sustains, comforts, and supports you. No moods will be allowed.

TAURUS (April 21-May 21) You may be in touch with past relationships and friends. This will allow you to review not only your self-worth but also what about yourself you value. You will find that you must begin or assume again plans for community development; new neighborhoods based on community sustainability ideals. Communication between two factions may be needed. Notice any values conflicts. What is right beside you is most important.

GEMINI (May 22-June 20) Finances, as usual. A new beginning, a reorientation or a re-evaluation financially will be called forth. Changes are occurred fast and furiously. You must keep up for you are a spokesperson. A smaller reality must fall away in order that you embrace a larger reality. Usually you’re silent about such things. Who can you talk to now? The Soul is brightening each day, calling your personality to choose.

CANCER (June 21-July 20) A new beginning is occurring for you. A new seed though has been planted in your heart and mind. I know you sense and feel it. Forces and energies unknown yet fully present call you to a self-discovery. Perhaps it concerns where you live and your present world work. You have/will become more accepting which increases your self-acceptance and self-worth. Something ends as something greater begins.

LEO (July 21-Aug. 22) First you will review your career path, your finances and your spiritual beliefs and knowings. Then you will shift what is most important for you. Then you will re-commit to something, someplace or someone from long ago. This surprises you. You’re finally learning from (and listening to) others. They have loved you for eons from afar. What does your heart tell you?

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) You will enter into regions of the mind not often explored and will find over time what needs elimination in terms of ideas and beliefs from long ago and what new regions need developing. Hidden aspects of self will be encountered. Simply observe. The eclipses bring endings with new beginnings. Along with your retrograde journal, it’s good to also begin an eclipse journal.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) There is a conflict between previous choices and present ways of being. You want to hold onto the past, it is of comfort. You want also to move forward. You cannot do both. Perhaps you can review what the past means to you and why you made certain decisions that keeps you from certain situations and people. The eclipses will bring forth startling and surprises thoughts, ideas, events and life changes. The idea of forgiveness and inclusion follow.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) Bold steps may be taken in areas of study, education and your career. You may even travel a bit, leading to a new direction in life. Something dramatic and different may occur at work. Or has it already? As time passes you’ll understand the opportunity this provides. If you could do anything you wanted concerning the future, what would that be?

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 20) Unexpected events will create within a trajectory directly into your dream world, into intuition, and into the place where inspiration comes forth. You will also tend to finances once again. It’s important to know what your relationship is with money within relationships. I think this will change, too. Also, someone may come along this week or next and from this encounter, revelations occur. You need some, don’t you? Be charming.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21-Jan. 20) Allow yourself to rest more this week. Don’t be guarded and don’t overwork or stress yourself. If you do someone may catch you off guard, you may tend to too many details that exhaust, and you may argue yourself to distraction. Tell everyone in your environment you need extra help. Create an agenda of tasks for others to do. Allow them to perform those tasks. Then give them stars. In the meantime, lie about and languish a bit.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 18) At first the week feels uncontrollable. Then surprising and uncertain. Then you realize life is changing at such a rapid pace that you may as well be excited about it. This response expands your imagination and vision, elevates and vivifies your life force, and you feel divinely connected to all forms of life, all planes and kingdoms. This, by the way, is joy. Now you can nourish other.

PISCES (Feb.19-March 20) You will begin to see things, life’s events, choices, in a new light. This will be good. You will learn to not turn away when upset or sad but to turn toward and make amends. You will also begin to have faith in the future, something you haven’t had for awhile (years). Something will occur that changes you – a gift, a task, recognition, a new role, a family member.

Mountain Mystic

When Cora Evans died in Boulder Creek in 1957, her thousands of pages of religious writings hadn’t yet been published. More than a half a century later, Evans’ fiery visions and spiritual devotion have inspired a crusade within Catholicism to make her the Santa Cruz Mountains’ first saint

Wesak (Water) Taurus Solar Festival, Buddha Blesses the Earth

A most important celebration occurs Sunday, May 3—the Wesak Taurus Buddha Solar Festival/full moon. At the moment of the full moon the Buddha’s presence enters the Earth plane for eight minutes. He brings the Will-to-Good from the Father, which, when reaching humanity becomes goodwill (Mother Principle). Held yearly in a valley hidden deep within the Himalayas, the Wesak festival is prepared for for months in advance (beginning at Winter Solstice). On festival day, amidst pilgrims, disciples and Holy Ones gathered in the valley, the Buddha is invoked through movement, symbols and mantrams. At the moment of the full moon, hearing the words, “We are ready, Buddha, come,” the Lord of Illumination (brother of the Christ) appears in the clouds above the altar to emanate forth the will and purpose of God to earth. The blessing of the father is then held in safekeeping for distribution at the June full moon Goodwill Festival. The day of Wesak (May 3, 8:42 p.m. West Coast) all disciples (east and west) place crystal vessels filled with pure water outside (in gardens, on rooftops, porches and steps) under the heavens. As the Buddha blesses the world, all waters, including waters within our bodies, are blessed. The Buddha is accompanied by the Forces of Enlightenment to illuminate humanity’s minds. Humanity then begins to express new constructive, productive and beneficial ways of the Art of Livingness. Wesak covers five days—two days (before) of dedicated preparation, the actual festival “Day of Safeguarding,” and two days (after) distributing goodwill (the NGWS to humanity). Join us in the Valley by reciting the Great Invocation, mantra of direction for humanity.

How do you connect with the natural world?

My connection to the natural world is through my art. I totally feel it there very physically in nature and even right here on the street. Jonathan Rosen, Felton, Pastor

Hess Collection Winery

My friend Emma from London came to visit for a few days in early March, so I took her wine tasting in the Santa Cruz Mountains—a rare treat for her, as there aren’t too many vineyards in the middle of London. Her visit reminded me how fortunate we are to live in this paradise of ultra-fresh produce, with grapes growing in wild profusion.
