I would like to see the cars taken off Pacific Avenue and a garden mall, which is what it was intended to be, in its place.

I think I'd like to see some of the larger commercial spaces get filled. It's depressing to see some of the prime real estate empty.

The bus station on needs to be renovated, there’s too many teenagers and homeless people hanging out. If they renovated it and made it nice people would be able to walk all the way to the beach. That would be nice.

It would be great if more people lived downtown-living-working-studies, all within the commerce zone. And then shutting down Pacific avenue to cars—just make it totally walkable. I’d definitely put a cap on rents so that people could afford to open up a store and stick around for a while.

No chain stores or "big box" stores... small, independent shops where our money will stay in the community. Look at how well the old Sentinel building is doing.
People come here for the unique quality of our town... let's keep it unique with small shops, quality street performers and no cars.

I'd like to see the scummy drug dealing element and the mentally ill, substance abusing panhandlers sent someplace where they won't interfere with civil enjoyment of downtown.

When I was selling books at Logo's and parked for the first time at the pay stations, I found that I received a parking ticket for $56 for a 6 second time lapse. I will be fighting this but one thing is for certain- I WILL NEVER DRIVE AND PARK TO SHOP DOWNTOWN AGAIN! If the city of Santa Cruz feels it's okay to fleece it's community then I'll be sure shop somewhere else and not worry about have to pay this kind of fine again.
I now understand why people don't shop downtown.
