Ultimately uniting, not only fandom-wise but in playing. They bring us together and make us look past differences to either root for a team or play as a team.

I feel like it's all in the perspective of the person. People can choose if they want to be united through sports or divided. The idea of a team is an awesome way of bringing people together, but then when you get into competition it can spoil the magic of teamwork. I think it's a choice.
